It is therefore of paramount importance that mines have a rigorous blending regime that caters to the needs of the mine and of the process plant. LKAB, located primarily in the northern region of Sweden is one such mining company. It has three functional mine sites namely Malmberget, Kirunavaara and Leveäniemi. The Svappavaara Mine Planning Section is responsible for expanding, consolidating and utilizing the iron-ore reserves of the Svappavaara field, today LKAB’s most expansive area. We are a multi-disciplinary team of mine geologists, rock mechanics, mine planners and surveyors. LKAB’s plans to reopen the Mertainen mine, outside of Svappavaara, to produce more iron ore.
